Feetle Word Game
Play Feetle free online: turn a four-letter starting word into FEET, changing one letter at a time. Every step must make another real word. The destination is already on the board; the puzzle is finding a short route to it. Try today's Daily ladder, or choose Unlimited for another starting word.
Feetle on Hunch Daily has its own puzzles and word list. Play on your phone or computer, with no account or download. There is no countdown, so you can plan several moves before you commit.
How to play Feetle
- Read your starting word. Keep four letters in every word, with FEET as the finish.
- Change one position. Type a word that differs from the last accepted word in exactly one place. Keep the other three letters where they are; you cannot rearrange them, add a letter or remove one.
- Submit your next step. Press Enter to check the word. An accepted word joins your ladder. If it does not count, check the spelling and the number of changed letters, then try again.
- Reach FEET. Any valid route finishes the puzzle. Fewer moves make a better result.
Use the on-screen keys or your computer keyboard. Backspace removes a typed letter. Undo removes the previous step so you can explore another route; Restart returns to the beginning. Your move count is the number of changes in your current ladder.
Unlimited offers a hint that highlights which letter position to change next, without revealing a letter or word. It does not add a word or move. Hints are noted on your result, and stay recorded when you undo or restart. Daily has no hints.
A Feetle example: WEAK to FEET
WEAK → WEAR → FEAR → FEAT → FEET
This ladder takes four moves. WEAK becomes WEAR by changing K to R. Change the first letter to make FEAR, then the final R to make FEAT. One more change, A to E, reaches FEET. Each neighbouring pair differs in exactly one position.
The starting word does not count as a move. Five words in this example mean four changes. It is a practice example, rather than today's Feetle answer, and a puzzle can have several valid solutions.
Feetle tips for shorter routes
- Find a possible final step. FEED, FEEL, FEAT and MEET can each become FEET in one move. Look for a connection to one of them.
- Plan beyond the next word. Before submitting, think of a second step. A familiar word with several neighbours gives you more choices than a word you cannot move on from.
- Allow a useful detour. Matching another letter of FEET is helpful only when the result is a word. Sometimes changing a letter away from the target opens a shorter route overall.
- Try a hint in Unlimited. A nudge can help you spot a connection. Pause to work out why it fits, so that the same pattern is easier to recognise next time.
Daily and Feetle Unlimited
Daily gives everyone on Hunch Daily the same starting word, with a new puzzle at local midnight. Your Daily progress stays in this browser, so you can return to an unfinished ladder. Finished results stay saved too.
Choose Unlimited in the game card for fresh starting words whenever you want to practise. Switching modes keeps an unfinished run while the page stays open; reloading Unlimited starts fresh. You can also share a challenge and compare routes from the same starting word.
Feetle questions
What is today's Feetle answer?
The finish is always FEET. The daily challenge is the chain of words connecting today's start to that finish, and more than one chain can work. Plan from both ends: look for a word one move from FEET, then connect your starting word to it.
Why won't Feetle accept my word?
Check that it has four letters and changes exactly one position from your current word. It must also appear in the game's English word list. A name, abbreviation or a spelling accepted elsewhere may not be in this dictionary. An invalid entry does not add a word to your ladder.
Is Feetle like Wordle?
Both are short word puzzles, but here the target is visible from the start. You build a sequence of connected words rather than guess a hidden answer. Knowing the destination is only the beginning: each word still needs a legal next step.
Can I play past Feetle puzzles?
Open Past puzzles to replay an earlier Daily ladder. Archive replay progress is not saved. Today's Daily progress and result stay in this browser when storage is available; clearing site data or changing browsers will not carry them across.
